Winemaker’s Notes
Impressively dark in the glass. The nose absolutely bursts with wild red fruits, floral notes, and spiced, grilled meats. On the palate, the texture is rich and velvety, building in complexity with layers of red and black fruit, warm baking spices, and savory depth. The finish is plush, powerful, and incredibly long. From the Miracle Vintage of 2022, this may be one of the most captivating expressions of the Estate Red to date.
Vintage Notes
If I had to name the 2022 growing season, I would give it the simple moniker, “The Miracle Vintage.” First, an impossibly late spring and “Juneuary” had us sweating bullets going into October. It was one of the coolest vintages of my career, especially at the high-elevation Figgins Estate vineyard. Then the record-setting warm October quite literally saved the vintage for us. These wines are simply stunning and are not to be missed!

Critical Acclaim
98- Owen Bargreen
The 2022 FIGGINS Red Wine is a proprietary blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot all coming from the Figgins Estate Vineyard. Stored in 70% new French oak, this delivers a knockout bouquet of graphite and tar alongside suggestions of huckleberry compote, mocha, and black licorice. The heady aromatics bring you back to the glass for more enjoyment. While this comes off initially aromatically reticent, after an hour of air this really sings in its high octave. The palate is plush as velvety tannins frame a glorious core of black and blue fruits, with menthol, dark chocolate shavings and stony mineral accents. This really needs at least another year or two of bottle age — but shows massive aging potential. Drink 2027-2050
97- James Suckling
This has a fragrant array of cedar, bay leaves, cloves, dried flowers, walnuts and blackberries on the nose. It’s full-bodied but elegant and lively on the palate, with firm yet fine-grained tannins. Sleek, linear and poised. Very classy and fresh at the end. A blend of cabernet sauvignon, merlot and petit verdot. Try from 2028.
96- Jeb Dunnuck
A proprietary (and undisclosed) blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot from Figgins Estate Vineyard, the 2022 Estate Red Wine opens in an herbal, earthy intensity of sage, cedar, and crushed stone. The full-bodied density opens slowly on the palate to show floral aromatics and rich red fruit, structured to age another 12-15 years.
